I thought that too. From a distance it looks like the shield was gules with a border compony argent and azure, perhaps a better design, but minus the significance of the cross…
It really is nice, and of course it doesn’t matter a fig what the arms of Greece are. I doubt many people outside heraldry enthusiasts or people with an interest in Greece, or international travel in general, would recognize its arms. And then there is the whole jurisdictional aspect. There are apparently two communes in France (one in the north and one in the south) whose arms are Azure a cross Argent.
