Found this at my local library. Decent black and white illustrations containing mostly arms of society members registered/recorded with the NEHGS. This was published in the early 1990’s I believe.

I then found reference online to a 2nd volume published later.
The NSCD website shows what I presume to be the arms of the society on the main webpage: http://www.nscda.org/site3/index2.php ....interesting.

I think I recognize those Arms. The first quarter is supposed to be England, the second quarter France, the third Sweden, and the fourth the Netherlands. The Swedish and Dutch Arms are hard to recognize, because some small (but very important) charges have been removed.
IIRC the justification was that these four kingdoms were the ones active in America during the relevant colonial period. I have no idea why the Spanish were excluded, I suspect it’s because they never controlled land in the original 13 colonies.
It’s easy enough to know why they use these arms. The General Society of Colonial Wars does much the same thing, mainly with the arms of the colonies instead of those of the parent countries.

That doesn’t make either of them good heraldry. In fact, it’s bad heraldry. I suppose the best that can be said is that at least they’re using heraldry.
You know Jeremey, it wouldn’t be copyright infringement to scan a page or two for "review" purposes.
