I’ve never hid my preference for canting arms, and I think the one presented by Fr. Byers is excellent.  It’s rare that someone could have arms so simple yet so original.

I agree with Dale, Dohrman’s design rocks!!!  Simple and original.  If a duck is necessary, one on the white shield (perhaps displayed) might look striking.

So the Askew tie in is cool, but my family does not exactly associate with any Askew’s.

I can’t tell whether this is said facetiously or seriously. The "askew" idea is a pun, not a family tie.

The design with the green duck is very nice, though I’d make the duck larger, to fill the space.

...or save the duck for your crest? —tho’ the designs with the simple image of the flying duck are nice!

(Seems like time for someone to suggest - & explain- the refrigerator test; but I’m at work & lunch hour is about over.

I showed my proposal for the Eskew arms (post 28 above) to a friend. He suggested that, rather than "canting" arms, these might better be styled "chuckling" arms.

Actually, I think "canting" is a perfect description for your draft, as an alternate definition for cant is a slanting or tilted position.

I did not mean to be rude at all.  I sincerely apologize if that is how I came across.

Refridgerator test:

Make a reasonably sized print of a design you like and leave it up on the refridgerator for a month or so.  If you still like it - you may have found a winner.  If you are continually thinking of changes - make the changes and post that on the refridgerator.

This method also lets your family get a look at it…

I don’t recall seeing anything objectionable from Ryan—if one of our answers suggested otherwise, I’m sure that wasn’t the intent.  We sometimes get wrapped up in our passions & miss what a newcomer might take as a slight.

So it has been a little while since I have posted.  I have been using the refrigerator test for the latest design.  I liked it but seemed to simple and not where I wanted to go,

though it was closer than what I had previously created(thank you kimon).  I was playing around with some design ideas and have come up with a new look that I think is original yet still traditional(I hope….).  Anyways here is the latest creation.

Alright so I was playing around with your newly suggested idea, as well as the idea of having a curved divider.
