Marcus,

These arms are quite different from those he adopted and had designed by the IAAH:  http://www.amateurheralds.org/roll/jesep.html .  I wonder why the difference?  I personally like the IAAH designed arms much better.

Take care,

As I understand it, the Patriarch of Moscow and All the Russias was born in Tallinn, Estonia as Aleksei Mikhailovich Rüdiger. His ancestors being Baltic-Germans of baronial rank. Do you know if the coat-of-arms used in this illustration is his historical family arms or of more recent creation?

Apparently a good surmise, David.  Rietstap does include a listing for
Quote:

Rüdiger De gueules, au sautoir d’argent, cantonné de quatre étoiles d’or.

I.e., Gules a saltire Argent between four stars Or.

Yes the Patriach’s CoA are those of the Rüdiger Family.

Yes PBlanton I also like those of the IAAH better (but there must bee something wrong with the colours, I’am sure what looks like grey should be blue). I’am not sure why the bishop have changed his arms.

The said religious community is not a part of the Orthodox Church, as there is no Ukrainian Autocephalous Ortodox Church of North & South America and the Diaspora among the autocephalous Churches in communion with Constantinopolis, Antioch, Alexandria, Jerusalem, Moscow etc…

There’s no evidence that His Holiness The Patriarch has ever used this coat of arms. It was designed by the CHR some years ago…

Anyway, he usually uses his cypher as a pseudo-heraldic symbol and upon his flag.

His Holyness with HRH Crown-Prince Aleksandar and Princess Katarina of Serbia a few days ago in Moscow. Note his flag to the dexter of the Patriarchal Throne.
